El objetivo de esta investigación fue describir cinco materias que son fundamentales para comprender la política migratoria de Chile, a saber: (i) el marco jurídico aplicable a la migración, (ii) las condiciones que se exigen para la migración, (iii) las características de la migración; (iv) cómo se protegen los derechos laborales y de seguridad social para los trabajadores migrantes, y (v) propuestas de mejora para garantizar los derechos de los trabajadores migrantes. Describir lo anterior permitió concluir que urge el establecimiento de una nueva política migratoria que logre fortalecer el intercambio de ciudadanos miembros de la Alianza del Pacifico en un marco de protección laboral y social que garantice el resguardo de los derechos laborales de los migrantes.

The purpose of this research was to describe five issues that are fundamental for understanding Chile's migration policy, which are: (i) the legal framework applicable to migration; (ii) the conditions required for migration; (iii) the characteristics of migration; (iv) how labor and social security rights are protected for migrant workers; and (v) proposals for improvement to guarantee the rights of migrant workers. The foregoing led to the conclusion that there is an urgent need to establish a new migration policy to strengthen the exchange of citizens who are members of the Pacific Alliance within a framework of labor and social protection that guarantees the protection of migrants' labor rights.
