La fecundidad ha disminuido progresivamente a nivel mundial, algunos autores y estudios han afirmado que esto se debe a que las mujeres han decidido no tener hijos o por el aplazamiento del embarazo de su primer hijo. Estos señalamientos han puesto a las mujeres en una posición de presión dado los juicios y prejuicios de la sociedad, donde la responsabilidad de la fecundidad solo recae en las mujeres. Sin embargo, la intención de esta investigación no es señalar a las mujeres del por qué toman estas decisiones, sino por el contrario es comprender y analizar las razones por las que las mujeres postergan su maternidad en tres generaciones; X, Millennials y Centennials.

Fertility has progressively decreased worldwide, some authors and studies have stated that this is because women have decided not to have children or because they have postponed the pregnancy of their first child. These statements have put women in a position of pressure due to the judgments and prejudices of society, where the responsibility for fertility falls only on women. However, the intention of this research is not to point out to women why they make these decisions, but rather to understand and analyze the reasons why women postpone childbearing in three generations; X, Millennials and Centennials.
