Se parte desde el principio de la autonomía Universitaria como principio rector de la autonomía universitaria es gracias a este principio que las universidades se organizan y se reglamentan, teniendo como característica un talento humano y una organización administrativa y académica con las siguientes características: • Organización propia, acorde con sus necesidades. • Reglamentación especial sobre el ingreso, permanencia y retiro del personal docente (carrera docente). • Reglamentación especial sobre el ingreso, permanencia y retiro del personal administrativo (carrera administrativa). • Designación de autoridades académicas y administrativas. Se aborda la Carrera Docente Universitaria en tres capítulos, el primero con el objetivo de conocer el alcance de la autonomía universitaria, sus inicios y su promulgación como principio constitucional. El segundo capítulo trata las características de los sistemas de carrera profesoral de las universidades públicas, el régimen salarial, prestacional y las especificidades de los estatutos de carrera. En el último capítulo se efectúa una relación de las principales características coincidentes y diferenciales de los regímenes especiales de carrera profesoral o docente, con la reglamentación general que sustenta el empleo público en Colombia, finalizando con las apreciaciones del autor sobre lo positivo o negativo de los distintos regímenes estudiados.

starts from the beginning of University autonomy as the guiding principle of university’s autonomy and it is thanks to this principle that universities are organized and regulated, having as a characteristic a human talent and an administrative and academic organization with the following characteristics: • Self organization, according to its needs. • Special regulations on the entry, permanence and retirement of teaching staff (teaching career). • Special regulations on the entry, permanence and retirement of administrative personnel (administrative career). • Appointment of academic and administrative authorities. The University Teaching Career is approached in three chapters, the first with the aim of knowing the scope of university autonomy, its beginnings and its promulgation as a constitutional principle. The second chapter deals with the characteristics of the teaching career systems of public universities, the salary and benefits regime and the specificities of the career statutes. In the last chapter, there is a list of the main coinciding and differential characteristics of the special regimes of the teaching career, with the general regulations that sustain public employment in Colombia, and ending with the author's appraisals on the positive or negative aspects of the different regimes studied.
