Este curso de 30 horas se centrará en la prisión considerando que es la pena más utilizada en estos tiempos. Para ello se abordará en primer lugar los conceptos y principios sobre el abolicionismo, luego se estudiará el origen del mismo, de tal forma que nos remitiremos a estudiar la historia de la prisión y las críticas a la política criminal

Objetivos generales:
Promote critical reflection and analysis on penal law, criminal policy and especially on prison sentences as a form of punishment. To accomplish this, it is necessary to approach prisons from distinct perspectives: social, economic, political and cultural. The idea is to guide the participant in the in-depth study of penal abolitionism and a look at alternative forms of justice (such as restorative).
Objetivos específicos:
• Understand the fundamental ideas of the abolitionist proposals based on the basic notions, the reasons for its emergence and the core principles of this proposal.
• Understand the selective nature of the punitive systems in the distinct social and historical contexts through the presentation of three milestones in the punitive systems with the aim of demonstrating that, despite the differences, these all still conserve their own identifying traits which are the selective nature of punishments, the purpose of which is to privilege the dominant social sectors. The three historical milestones are the Code of Hammurabi, the Inquisition and Workhouses.
• Identify the three central ideas of European abolitionism.
