The relation between cities and climate change is much bigger and stronger than what it seems to be. According to some studies, urban zones are the main contributors of gei, and are as well highly vulnerable to the negative effects produce by this phenomena. Considering what is presented above, cities are considered to have a main role in the fight against climate change; the initiatives, coalitions, compromises and pacts that different leaders worldwide have been working on are well received and considered as important effort in adapting and mitigating this phenomenon. Its worthy to mention some of the strategies implemented by different cities in Colombia, they have been an example of leadership and compromise in a phenomenon present worldwide, one which is and will continue to affect locally those who have been unable to understand the true magnitude of its consequences.

La relación entre las ciudades y el cambio climático es más estrecha de lo que parece. Según estudios, las zonas urbanas son las principales contribuyentes de Gases Efecto Invernadero –GEI–, pero así mismo son altamente vulnerables a los efectos adversos de ese fenómeno. Teniendo presente lo anterior, las ciudades han sido consideradas como actores principales en la lucha contra el cambio climático, y las iniciativas, coaliciones, pactos y compromisos voluntariamente liderados por diferentes mandatarios a nivel mundial han sido bien recibidas y catalogadas como esfuerzos importantes en materia de mitigación y adaptación. Vale la pena mencionar algunas estrategias implementadas en diferentes ciudades colombianas, que han servido como ejemplo claro de liderazgo y compromiso ante un fenómeno de carácter global, que está y continuará afectando localmente a quienes aún no han entendido la verdadera magnitud de sus consecuencias.
