This thesis is an investigative exercise that collect the life, the experiences, the stories and sensations of the El Cocuy's people and the Sierra Nevada. Through the agricultural work of the people, their homes and their lands comprehends how "campesinos" life is configure and who is the habitant of the high lands: "el baquiano". An habitant whom because of the experiences in agriculture, the grazing with cows, the verticality of the mountains and the touristic labors, become in an expert connoisseur of the animals roads and touristic ways, also become in the powerful reader of times, climates and the telluric expression of the territories where their people build the life. The investigation then goes through three places where the life of the peasants happens and reproduces: The municipal head, the paths and the Sierra, spaces that are witnesses of the life and the changes of the "campesinos" logics by the years and the transformations of The agricultural life that moves towards the tourist activity

La siguiente tesis es un ejercicio investigativo que recoge la vida, las experiencias, los recuerdos y los sentires de los habitantes del municipio de El Cocuy, y La Sierra Nevada. A través del trabajo agrícola de los habitantes, de sus casas, de sus parcelas y sus fincas se comprende cómo se configura la vida campesina y quién es el habitante de alta montaña que vive en ella: el Baquiano. Un habitante que, por las experiencias del trabajo agrícola, por las labores de la baquía, por la verticalidad de la vida de la montaña y por las labores turísticas, se convierte en un conocedor experto de caminos de animales, rutas turísticas, en un potente interprete de los tiempos, de climas y de las expresiones telúricas del territorio en el que construye su vida. La investigación entonces, pasa por tres lugares donde la vida de los campesinos sucede y se reproduce: La cabecera municipal, las veredas y La Sierra, espacios que son testigos de la vida y los cambios de las lógicas campesinas por los años y las transformaciones de la vida agrícola que se traslada hacia la actividad turística.
