Tierradentro Archaeological Park is located in the northeast of Cauca, between of lnzá and Belakázar, and it is part of the protected archaeological a reas in Colombia. lt was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1995 due to its archaeological wealth consisting of cera mies, sculpture, lithics and a group of 162 hypogeums (79 are open to the public). They are characterized by their constructive complexity excavated in volcanic tuff, and by the presence, in its interior, of mural painting, which is composed of geometric designs and schematic representations. This research work proposes an interdisciplinary approach applied from visual semiotics and Gestalt Theory, to provide an approach to the plastic attributes and the interpretation, from the perception, of the mural painting present in one of the most studied hypogeum from conservation and restoration, the hypogeum S12. This case involves considering the definition descñbed by Mora & Pilliphot (2003) regarding mural painting, characterized because it is "attached to the wall and therefore to the architecture" (p. 31). This links the plastic attñbutes present in both the decoration (mural painting) and the architectural composition (hypogeum S12).
