Currently, issues related to these rights are no longer exclusive and absolute responsibility of the States; on the contrary, companies have the obligation to respect them throughout its value chain. This relationship is evident in the strategies of corporate social responsibility (CSR), it has materialized in different voluntary instruments, the most important ones are the Guiding Principles because in addition to suggest the responsibility that companies have to respect human rights, they define how companies must accomplish with that responsibility. In Colombia, the involvement of the entrepreneurs in human rights issues can be evidenced in the corporate social responsibility strategies implemented. This is the case of the Colombian sugar industry that, through its guild called ASOCAÑA, has carried out actions guided to respect human rights. The objective of this article is to analyze how CSR practices implemented by ASOCAÑA could be aligned with the content of the Guiding principles on Business and Human Rights.
