    The article attempts a review about the presence in Colombia of the different Protestant branches (including Historical, Evangelical and Pentecostal denominations). Through a socio-historical, panoramic and long-term approach, it describes the main episodes related to the entry and establishment of Protestantism in the country. Furthermore, the article intends to offer a contribution to the understanding of the causes that have permitted a certain type of Protestantism (the Evangelical and Pentecostal) to have prospered to becoming the most dynamic and influential religious movement in the country afterward the Catholicism.

    There is a historical and historical revision of Protestantism in Colombia and the proper development of the Pentecostal movement, its roots and its arrival in the country. Later there are some doctrinal elements of the Pentecostal religious movement, based on a case study of the Church of God Ministerial of Jesus Christ International, that allow to understand the behaviors and the economic attitudes of the believers. It shows the relationship of the Church with Colombian society and the current socio-economic system.
