- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoEl café, una auténtica apuesta por sobrevivir : análisis de las transformaciones económicas, sociales y laborales del sector cafetero en el Viejo Caldas, una región como patente expresión de la crisis(Bogotá : Universidad Externado de Colombia, 2019, 2019) Martínez Chimbi, William DavidThe coffee activity has influenced the social, political and economic organization of the country with enormous influence. Its influence compromises the lives of more than 550,000 coffee families that suffer the dire effects of the internationalization of the coffee economy framed in neoliberal globalization, a process that has created the conditions for the crisis scenario that overwhelms the sector and puts it in a situation of very high fragility. This document analyzes important changes that have operated in the economic, social and labor dimension of the coffee sector in a historical unit that corresponds to the so-called Old Caldas. There are condensed dense contributions to coffee literature that have fueled the construction of an economic, social and political history of coffee. It includes an x-ray of the sector that examines, based on the main variables that condition it, the character and dimension of the crisis. It addresses a core aspect (work) and the transformations emanating there, exposing there its unique character and the behavior of associated phenomena such as migration and population aging. Finally, scrutinize the phenomena, logic, assessments, perceptions and causes that drive coffee growers to abandon the crop or persist in surviving from it.
