- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoEvaluating meaningful teacher-developed materials for vocabulary learning(Bogotá : Universidad Externado de Colombia, 2019., 2019) Bautista Moyano, Jenifher; Núñez Pardo, AstridThis qualitative documental research study analyzed and evaluated the aspects revealed in teacher-developed materials by five English teachers that promote vocabulary learning through the meaningful approach in preschool and elementary students in a private school located in Bogotá. The corpus evaluated included the materials (worksheets) developed during 2015-2017. The instruments to collect data were matrices to evaluate worksheets, semi-structured interview conducted with English monitor, and a focus group interview conducted with English teachers. The findings show that there are not common or general criteria in their design: there is not connection between the objectives of the school curriculum and the activities proposed to vocabulary learning process; the absence of activities related to students' realities or sociocultural context; was not evident a didactic organization far vocabulary learning, concerning the aspects of word knowledge; the foundations of meaningful leaming are not represented in The worksheets as the activities are not centered on young learners' expectations or weaknesses and there is absence of activities to allow the use of language in realistic contexts. The results and recommendations have been socialized and integrated to the development of materials, befitting 823 students and 5 EFl teachers as text developers in the institution.
